Example BaZi chart: verify the result before interpreting it

This is a fictional teaching example, not a reading for a real person. It makes the calculation inputs and the displayed Four Pillars visible so you can see what to check before treating any traditional label as meaningful.

The fictional input record

For this repeatable example, use 18 April 2001 at 12:18 in Los Angeles, California, with the target year set to 2026. The example uses the city record supplied by this site, local historical civil time, and the same calculation rules described in the methodology. It is deliberately away from a two-hour boundary; a real record near a boundary deserves more caution.

Displayed Four Pillars

Year: 辛巳   Month: 壬辰   Day: 辛亥   Hour: 甲午

The day stem is 辛 (Xin, Metal), so the tool presents Xin Metal as the Day Master. These characters are a traditional calendrical output. They are not a medical, psychological, financial, legal, or scientific finding about the fictional person.

How to check the result

1. Enter the date, time, birth place, and target year exactly as shown above.
2. Confirm that the calculator has selected Los Angeles rather than a city with a similar name, and review the displayed input summary.
3. Record all four pillar pairs before reading the narrative sections.
4. When comparing another calculator, compare its time-zone history, solar-time adjustment, solar-term boundary, and calendar rule first.

Matching only the animal sign or one pillar does not verify a full chart. A mismatch does not by itself prove either site wrong; the two services may be using different disclosed settings.

What a careful traditional reading can and cannot do

After the calculation is checked, a reader may use the Day Master, five-element pattern, ten-year cycle, and annual pillar as a traditional framework for reflection. A responsible reading separates that cultural vocabulary from claims about guaranteed events. Important choices about health, money, safety, relationships, or law should use relevant real-world information and qualified advice.
