Jia reaching toward Heaven and Yi being soft are images selected by this witness. A tall tree or soft flower cannot be translated directly into a real person's personality. A more substantive comparison asks how the recorded explanation selects root/trunk for Jia and branches/leaves for Yi, then qualifies Jia through flourishing Wood, season and particular Fire/Water configurations.
We use the 1936 NLC9444 stem section, starting midway through scan 8, printed 3, and ending before Branches on 14, printed 9. Only Jia and Yi's secure opening image are selected. The entire later Yi discussion of positions, months and Water/Fire is not unfolded here. Reading one pair does not collate every stem paragraph.[1,8]
Jia and Yi select different aspects of Wood
The short texts open “甲木參天” and “乙木雖柔.” The explanations describe Jia as root/trunk Wood and pure Yang Wood, Yi as branch/leaf Wood, soft like flowers.[2–5] These are different aspects of the Wood image, not anatomical categories for two kinds of people.
Pure Yang is a traditional classification rather than proof that every Jia configuration is flourishing. The explanation separately requires flourishing Wood before describing Fire's effect. Category and the flourishing qualification remain distinct. Yi's although soft likewise signals an opening that still needs its continuation, not a final verdict of weakness.
A comparison card records image, explanatory operation and qualifications. It does not say Jia people are always rigid or Yi people always dependent. No personality dataset has been collected or validated here, and these selected lines supply no modern measuring method.
Flourishing Wood with Fire retains flourishing and season
The Jia explanation calls Fire Wood's child and says flourishing Wood encountering Fire becomes more luxuriant. It then distinguishes spring assisting Fire without accommodating Metal and autumn assisting Metal without accommodating Earth.[3] Child names a traditional generating relation; luxuriance continues the image. Neither is a horticultural instruction to burn trees or a conclusion about actual children.
Flourishing, spring, autumn and the objects are easily lost in abstracts. Wood with Fire more luxuriant omits flourishing. Exchanging spring and autumn reverses the Metal/Earth restrictions. Metal bad and Earth bad deletes season entirely. The qualifications prevent the paragraph becoming a fixed favorable-object list.
The short verse compresses the spring/Metal and autumn/Earth restrictions.[2] Explanation supplies more relational detail. Separate fields show which information belongs to verse and which to explanation, instead of inserting the gloss into a purported continuous original verse.
Baotai retains the witness's word
The Jia text prints “胞胎要火,” followed by fierce Fire riding Dragon, surging Water riding Tiger, moist earth/harmonious Heaven and standing through ages.[2] Baotai is retained rather than silently replaced by a familiar character form. Its presence in a Wood-image passage does not supply a pregnancy rule, and ages does not become a prediction of human lifespan.
An unfamiliar word calls for recording the witness, examining explanation and marking unresolved meaning. Without identified comparison evidence, it cannot first be declared wrong and replaced. We use neither this word for a bodily conclusion nor the verse for a claim of settled textual genealogy.
Dragon/Tiger reading returns to many factors and seated branches
The explanation gives two qualified cases: many Yin/Wu/Xu and Bing/Ding with seated Chen can contain the stated relation; many Shen/Zi/Chen and Ren/Gui with seated Yin can receive it.[6] Jia Wood remains the subject. The Fire group with Chen and Water group with Yin cannot exchange positions. Many factors also does not mean a complete four-pillar birth has been supplied.
The next excerpt identifies Chen as Water storehouse, its Fire-restraining/Wood-nourishing role, Earth releasing Fire and the resulting moist Jia root; it also records Jia's lu in Yin.[7] These passages provide the Chen/Yin references for the imagery. We follow the explanation rather than predict the fortunes of people whose zodiac animals are Dragon or Tiger.
Yin here is the branch 寅, not Yin 陰 polarity. The excerpt's therefore not fearing Fire stays within the moist-root and preceding configuration explanation.[7] It is not unconditional fire safety or evidence of a measured physical firefighting system.
| Selected expression | Explanation recorded in Jiyao | Qualification retained |
|---|---|---|
| Jia reaches toward Heaven | Root/trunk, pure Yang | Class alone is not flourishing |
| Flourishing Wood becomes luxuriant with Fire | Wood's child and seasonal relations | Flourishing Wood; spring Metal/autumn Earth restrictions |
| Fierce Fire rides Dragon | Many Fire-related factors, seated Chen | Yin/Wu/Xu Bing/Ding and Chen together |
| Surging Water rides Tiger | Many Water-related factors, seated Yin 寅 | Shen/Zi/Chen Ren/Gui and Yin together |
| Yi although soft | Branches/leaves and flowers | Selected opening, not every later Yi condition |

Yi's opening cannot replace its whole discussion
The selected Yi words support comparison with Jia's image, without reducing the later paragraph to softness alone. A narrow excerpt requires a narrow conclusion: it shows how this explanation selects an image, not one result for every Yi configuration.
This prevents a stem-personality poster. Root/trunk and leaves can organize memory, but do not replace position, season and the traditional relationships, and do not establish modern ability or personality labels. Drawing a ranking of real people would change the object under discussion.
Witness, recorded explanation and our analysis remain separate
The explanations do not individually name their commentators. We call them explanations recorded in Jiyao rather than assigning every Jia sentence to Chen's composition or Lewu's annotation. The short text is the witness's wording; generation, containment, reception and release belong to its explanation. Our table and diagram connect them as original analysis.
The fragments supply no complete pillars or calendar birth, so no birthday or named person is added. They also supply no botanical experiment or life-outcome statistics. A vivid cultural Wood image cannot establish natural-science validation by itself.
Read imagery through qualifications
A deletion check is useful: remove flourishing and the Fire statement expands; remove seated Chen and the Fire group loses its configuration; remove the selected-opening boundary and Yi softness becomes an unsupported whole-paragraph rule. Restoring these terms retains more than adding a personality story.
The next question examines branch classes and combination/clash. It likewise separates category, relationship and the explanation's strong qualifications. Images help reading, while objects and conditions still do the argumentative work.
